The Tonbridge Decorative and Fine Arts Society (TDFAS) was formed in 1981. We are a registered charity and aim to provide the people who live in Tonbridge and the surrounding area an opportunity to enjoy, study and advance their knowledge and understanding of the decorative and fine arts and of our national heritage. Our lectures web page gives details of a wide variety of monthly illustrated lectures presented by experts in particular areas of the arts during the current year and past three years.
Each year we arrange a DAY OF SPECIAL INTEREST which is devoted to a more detailed study of a subject than is possible in one of our hourly lectures.
In the summer months we organise DAY VISITS to venues of artistic or historic interest often related to a lecture topic and led by expert guides. Details for the visits may be found on the visits web page.
The year 2011/12 was a special as it marked the 30th anniversary of Tonbridge DFAS formation and we had some particular special events to celebrate this occasion.
Volunteers from the Society offer their services to the local community by recording local churches for posterity and actively encourage the younger generation in the arts.
We meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 2:30pm (except August and December). Tea and coffee are served after the meeting.
